About Us

The BIR Travel Plaza was built by people who understand the road and the drivers who travel it every day. For owner-operators, fleet drivers, and travelers passing through East Tennessee, our goal is simple: to provide a clean, reliable place to fuel, park, eat, and recharge.

The plaza features BP fuel with dedicated diesel lanes for semi-trucks and convenient gas pumps for everyday drivers, allowing drivers to move in and out efficiently. With 250 truck and vehicle parking spaces, drivers can count on having room to stop, rest, and reset before getting back on the road.

For long hauls, comfort matters. That is why the plaza includes clean showers, driver facilities, and RV hookups, giving drivers and travelers a place to refresh after miles on the highway.

When it comes to food, drivers have two great options. Jack in the Box offers familiar favorites around the clock, while Naan Stop, our own restaurant, delivers fresh meals from a made-from-scratch kitchen in an assembly-line format, making it fast to get a quality meal without sacrificing flavor.

The travel plaza is part of the larger BIR family of companies founded by Jimmy Singh, whose life has always been connected to trucking.

Jimmy grew up around the trucking industry. His father started a trucking company in 1985 with just ten trucks. Wanting to build something of his own, Jimmy became an owner-operator in 1993. Over the next four years, he built strong relationships across the industry while successfully running his own truck.

In 1997, Jimmy expanded his operation, growing the fleet to four company trucks and sixteen owner operators who believed in his vision and chose to work with him. That commitment to relationships and reliability helped build the foundation for what the company is today.

As of 2024, BIR Transport operates 65 trucks and 130 dry van trailers, hauling freight across the Southeast and Midwest for major companies, including Pepsi, Kimberly-Clark, Resolute Forest Products, and WestRock.

In 2022, Jimmy purchased a 72-acre abandoned truck stop in the Dandridge area with the goal of bringing it back to life. The BIR Travel Plaza is the result of that vision: a modern stop built by someone who knows what drivers actually need.

This is more than a place to fuel up. It is a place built for the people who keep America moving.

“Opportunity does not come when you are ready for it; you must be ready for the opportunity when it arrives.”
